Semester-long project

Here's a look at what each of you picked for your semester-long project.
A couple of you are planning to take photos at the Botanical Center, but I don't think that's a problem at all.

If you have yet to tell me the subject of your project, now would be a good time to do so.

Class syllabus

Here's the syllabus for the class this fall (it might take a few seconds to load). Just click on the arrow in the upper right corner to see it bigger:

Welcome to J59

I recently noticed a giant inflatable Bulldog on campus, which can only mean one thing: It's almost time for the fall semester to begin.

I'll be teaching Introduction to Visual Communication again this semester. We'll explore the ever-exciting world of photography, video, print design and web design.

A couple notes to get us started:
  • There is no book for this class.
  • You will need to buy some sort of USB or Firewire drive for this class. Something like this is perfect (and only $19).
  • You'll need a digital camera that can shoot photos and video. Ideally, your camera will allow you to adjust things like shutter speed and aperture. If you already own a camera, we'll make it work.
If you plan to buy a photo, the Canon PowerShot A590IS is a great choice for less than $150.
